ARTC Russell Terrier Specialty June 10. 2006 Judge Pam Simmons
The members of our club are very adamant about preserving the working attributes of the Russell Terrier. We were pleased to have Pam Simmons officiate as judge who has an extensive working background with the Parsons Russell Terrier. In addition she is a UKC/ AKC judge. Pam judged our Russell’s in the conventional show classes as well as the European Style of evaluation with written critiques. It was educational to all of those who participated.
Pam began the show with a presentation of a Handling seminar to educate participants in the proper way to present their Russell’s in the show ring. Following the classes Pam gave an additional seminar including breed type and correct structure for the Russell Terrier using the FCI standard. Scott Kauffman gave a seminar on earth work that was very informative particularly to those new members who have never had the opportunity to hunt their Russell’s. It sparked many newcomers to take their terriers to the hunt field. Fortunately Scott lives in No. California and does hunt in the area. In addition he makes frequent trips to England, the Midwest, and East Coast where vermin is more plentiful to hunt. He just got back from Kentucky where they eradicated eleven ground hogs.
