The ARTC hosted a trial at the Santa Fee Hunt in Temecula in June 8 & 9, 1996. Darin Hurseler, officiated as judge for the event. Darin was the terrierman at the Santa Fee Hunt at the time and was a native of Australia. He has spent many years working for Hunts in Australia and England in charge of the Hounds and terriers. His vast knowledge of the working aspects of the breed in his presentation was of great value to all of us. The Hounds along with the Master of Hounds horseback was presented in full attire to start our event which was spectacular. We had two full days of GTG, racing, and conformation. Thanks to Darin it was the only time squirrels were used for the GTG. Darin was very innovative with his simulated earth liners. He constructed permanent underground tunnels for terrier matches on the weekends which we all participated in at the Santa Fee Hunt. The underground tunnels were extensive with many blind liners to detract the terriers. He made it very challenging to keep the terriers focused on the scent rather than just running through the tunnels. The terriers loved them.

**Barkley is the dog who played in many of the Ernest movies, among others and many commercials. He came to several of our first events.
