The application for the Jack Russell Terrier submitted to the AKC FSS was very straight forward in the recognition of the Australian or FCI type of JRT. The country of origin is England and the country of development is Australia. The breed never recognized in country of origin owes a great debt of gratitude to Australia for the preservation and perpetuation of this wonderful breed. The meticulous stud books kept in Australia since 1962 documenting the origin and the progression of the breed combined with Kennel Club recognition make it one of the purest forms of the JRT in the world.
